Wii News:Call of Duty 5 in 'near 360 graphics' shocker
...a Wii developer actually bothering to make a game look good? Nah.
According to our friends BGB, the upcoming shooter Call of Duty 5 is set to feature graphics that a SNES wouldn't be embarassed to output, in what could be a earth-shattering event for Wii owners.
More specifically, they report that the game "promises to look closer to its PS3/360 counterparts than any other franchise." Aha, that's the get-out clause then. It's hardly difficult to make a game look more impressive than most of the multi-platform ports the Wii has been inundated with since launch.
Now we all know the Wii is technically underpowered compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
Unfortunately for gamers, however, developers aren't mentally underpowered - they realise full well that making lots and lots of money doesn't necessarily have to go hand-in-hand with thinking of lots and lots of good ideas and actually bothering to implement them properly, and neither does it mean they have to make any effort whatsoever in terms of graphical output. Because the Wii is 'all about the games,' they scream, whilst wiping their arses with £50 notes and giggling all the way to the Ferrari.
No, it isn't.
That's a poor excuse for money-grabbing apathy.
A nice angry rant, but an almost completely justified one. Shame it's unlikely to change anything.
The few Wii games that deliver the whole package properly put shame on all the others, but to apparently little effect.
How would I sum up my experience with the Wii so far?
